FINAL REFLECTION FOR WORLD LITERATURE 2020-2021

This semester was unlike any other because we had to learn and adjust in different ways. Our course was different from the beginning and I value everything I learned from it. We did a lot of work that was different from any other English class I've ever had.

Something that made this course different than any other course was that it focused on what your thoughts and opinion were on certain stuff. For example, the journal entries, were something that was very new and different to me. No other class had us keep a journal and write our thoughts in it everyday. The questions for our journals were very interesting and made me actually want to write every day. I am glad I got to try out something new. I found having our very own blog meaningful. This was meaningful because we get to have a space where we can write all of our thoughts and share them with our classmates. We can also get inspired by our classmates and see what they have to say about certain topics.

The work I am most proud of is my essay. I am really proud of this because I put a lot of thought and effort into it. I thought the topic was really interesting and I found it really easy to write about. I wish I would have put more effort into keeping track of all the work I had to do in this course and prioritize certain things. For example, if I had an assignment do today I would work on that instead of something else. I would just be better at getting assignments in on time and keeping up with all the work.

I learned a lot of helpful things in this course that I can apply in the future. For example, our literature analysis that we had to post. It was really interesting to go more in depth and think harder about the book we chose to read. The questions that we had to answer were very different and not like any other traditional questions what would be asked for a book report. Now I will look more into the book I will be reading and make connections to them and real life. In "Blink Once" by Cylin Busby it shows symbolism because when Olivia gives West a white board to write on since he can't talk. Thanks to Olivia he gains hope. This shows symbolism because that's the way the communicate with each other. Another example in 'Blink Once" is mood because the mood changes so often. For example when the author is talking about Olivia the mood seems to be sad, like she wants us to feel the emotions along with the characters. An example of indirect characterization is when the author describes Olivia in certain ways so we can make our own confusion about her.

In conclusion this course has been very different than any other because we got to share our thoughts and opinions more. This course got us to share our thoughts and see what our classmates thought on certain topics.
