HOW I READ

The thing I like some about Les Mis is how the author describes the characters personality. The author does a good job on making it seem like you know the person he is talking about. I also like how the situations are described. They are described with so much detail so you can imagine it. One technique that Victor Hugo uses to create these affects is indirect characterization. This technique says a lot about a character without them having to say anything. Setting is another technique that Victor Hugo uses that makes reading this book even better. This makes it so you can image the setting in the book. The last technique is Allusion which gives us more of an understanding of the text.

LES MIS #10

This chapter introduced a new character who is described to be a monster. He almost voted for the kings death. The way he's described is very bad which make him seem like a bad person. The Bishop thinks about people that he needs to visit .

LES MIS #9

This chapter is about Mademoiselle Baptistine writing a letter to her childhood friend. She talks about what's going on in her life and her brother. She says that her brother is a very good man. She says that he has the courage to travel into a county of robbers. She talks about how courageous and brave he is.

LES MIS #8

This chapter talks about the senator who is a smart man who does what he sets out to do. When the Bishop and the senator, Count, are talking Count says that he is not enthusiastic over Jesus. He goes on a rant about his beliefs. He says that at the end of the day when we die we will just be dust collected in an organism. Then the Bishop applauds him for his thoughts.

LES MIS #7

I thought that this chapter was interesting because the bishop wanted to go on a trip alone without an escort. The mayor didn't want him to go alone because there could have been people that would rob him. The bishop ended up making it safely and spent his time teaching and preaching. When the bishop make is back everyone was staring at him in curiosity because they were surprised he made it back.

How We Read

Reading is supposed to be fun, but sometimes reading for school is a challenge. Here are four ways we can have more fun reading and do it better at the same time. The first thing we can do is read books we love. Everyone has different interests and things they like. So try finding books that catch your attention and that sound interesting to you. You will probably end up liking the book if it interests you. The second thing is understanding books you don't love. Sometimes you just need to give books a chance. You never know you might end up liking it. The third thing is reconsidering how you define the word read. You might have a certain definition for the word read but try thinking more about it. The fourth thing is stop looking for the answers. Sometimes you just have to stop thinking so much about the answers and let them come to you.

LES MIS CH 4

In this chapter M. Myriel hears about an execution that's taking place. He sits and talks to the man before the execution. He has very strong feelings about the execution. He feels disgusted by it and feels horrible for the man. The Bishops reaction makes me think that the author doesn't agree with the subject either because of the way he describes it. I feel like the death penalty is wrong because no one should be punished with death and it doesn't matter what they did. Yes, I agree with the bishop because death should only be the business of God.

LES MIS #3

Chapter 3 is about M. Myriel going on a journey and causing a lot of commotion because he decide to ride on a donkey. People were laughing and talking about him because of this. My first impression of chapter 3 is that M. Myriel doesn't care what people think about him. He doesn't care about what most people care about like material things.

LES MIS #2

This chapter is about M. Myriel having the episcopal palace. It was a big and beautiful house and it was next to a hospital. The hospital was small and was a single story. When he visited the hospital he wanted to give them his palace and in return he would get the hospital. M. Myriel spent most of his earnings on giving back to the people who needed it. Because of his actions people started calling him Monseigneur Bienvenu.

LES MIS #1

Chapter one talks about M. Myriel who had to leave France because of the French Revolution. Then he returns to France years later. There was a lot of gossip and talk about M. Myriel because no one knew who he was. He went to Digne with his sister, Mademoiselle Baptistine. They also had their servant named Madame Magliore.
